The Ironton City Board of Education believes that good school–community relations are necessary if we are to have and maintain a top-quality school system. Without community support in a number of ways, the task of education would be insurmountable. The Board, therefore, adopts this Policy on planned school-community relation, with the purpose of fostering a spirit of good relations between the school and the community.

The planned school-community relations will be as follows:

    1. The school will encourage community participation in school activities and functions.
    2. The schools will present articles to the local newspapers showing our schools’ goals strengths, needs, and accomplishments.
    3. The school system will, upon request, provide copies of Policies such as Philosophy, Goals,
    4. Rentals, and others to interested parties.

    5. The schools will, by written announcements, make the parents and patrons of the schools
    6. aware of activities, functions, etc. and also inform parents on student health matter and other.

    7. The schools will notify and congratulate parents of noteworthy award, accomplishments, etc.
    8. of their children and their outstanding works.

    9. The Board and Administration will seek the services of competent townspeople on important
    10. matters such as, serving on school committees and other, as advisable and as needed.

The Board and Superintendent will choose and name one certified person in the employ of this district to serve at no additional pay, as our school-community relations coordinator.

The school system will make known the fact that it accepts qualified volunteers for services on selected project. This would also mean the assistance at extracurricular activities and the like.

The schools will enlist the overall support of our citizenry in their assistance and backing of our total educational program.

The schools will provide, at no cost, speakers for civic clubs, groups, and organizations. The schools will also invite capable citizens into our schools to speak.
