Short-Term, Temporary Absence of the Superintendent of Schools
In the absence of the Ironton City Superintendent of Schools for reason of: sick leave, temporary illness, or other legitimate use of sick leave; school business; vacations; inservice training or workshops outside the district; administrator and/or school board conventions; or any other short-term, temporary school-related activity or mission, the city superintendent of schools shall have the authority to name (if he/she deems if advisable) the Assistant Superintendent to serve in his/her stead during this absence.
The administrator so named by the City Superintendent of Schools shall have the full authority to act as superintendent; to make immediate decisions, and to operate the Ironton City School System (according to law and Board Policy) until the City Superintendent of Schools returns to his/her post and resumes his/her duties.
The authority of the elementary supervisor and administrative assistant shall be only temporary in such case, and this authority may be revoked at any time at the discretion of either the City Superintendent of Schools or the Board of Education.
The elementary supervisor and administrative assistant shall receive no additional compensation for acting in the short-term, temporary absence (as described above) of the City Superintendent of Schools.
