The Lunchroom Custodian -Driver

The Ironton City Schools will have a Lunchroom Custodian - Driver as one of its non-certified employees. The Lunchroom Custodian - Driver will be employed by the Ironton City Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Ironton City Superintendent of Schools, under a legal contract agreement, and shall be paid an annual salary as set by the Ironton City Board of Education.

Supervision

The Lunchroom Custodian - Driver shall be under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent, but shall be directly supervised on a day-to-day basis by the Cafeteria Unit Manager at the food preparation center.

Primary Function

The chief function, duty, and/or responsibility of the Lunchroom Custodian - Driver shall be that of delivering food from the point of preparation to the elementary schools in the Ironton City School District; to haul surplus commodities; and to assist in and perform tasks related to this food-service position, as directed by the Assistant Superintendent and the Cafeteria Unit Manager. The duties, obligations, and responsibilities of the position of the Lunchroom Custodian- Driver shall be set forth in a written position description.

Working Conditions

The Lunchroom Custodian - Driver for the Ironton City School District shall work 177 days each year (on the days when food is prepared and served for the students in our school system). He/she shall work six (6) hours each for five (5) days, at such hours as are determined and set by the Assistant Superintendent.

The Lunchroom Custodian - Driver will not be required to work on emergency or "snow days" 9 when school is not in session because of ice and/or snow) for the first five (5) days of dismissal for same during the school year. If it is necessary to dismiss, because of ice and/or snow, more than five (5) days, the Lunchroom Custodian - Driver will be required to report for work and remain on the job for a regular day's work. If, however, the Ironton City Board of Education should require that all ice and snow dismissal days be made up, the same shall be done.

Probation

The Lunchroom Custodian - Driver shall initially be employed on a 90-day probationary basis and shall be eligible for continued employment upon the satisfactory completion of this probationary period. Continued employment shall be at the discretion of the Board and the Superintendent of the Ironton City School District, in accordance with Board Policy and the laws of the State of Ohio.

Sick Leave and Other

The Lunchroom Custodian - Driver shall be granted sick leave and other such leave as granted in and by the Ironton City Board of Education Policy 4243, and in compliance and accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio on such leave and the negotiated agreement.

Duties, Obligations, Responsibilities

The Lunchroom Custodian - Driver shall have the following duties, obligation, and responsibilities:

1. Work under the direct supervision of the Cafeteria Manager at the food preparation center, and under the overall general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent.

2. Be responsible for handling inventory of food items in storage areas at the food preparation center, as well as all of the Ironton City Elementary Schools.

3. Transport food to and from the food preparation center and all of the Ironton City Elementary Schools.

4. Help serve lunch at Whitwell Elementary School.

5. Pick up (at Jackson, Ohio) and deliver to the proper destination, federal surplus commodities for the lunchroom program in our schools.

6. Do any or all other food-service related tasks as assigned by the Cafeteria Unit Manager and/or Cafeteria Supervisor and the Assistant Superintendent.
