BOARD POLICY  4117.1

 

Evaluation of Assistant Superintendent, Principals, Assistant Principals

and Other Administrators in the Ironton City School System

 

                In compliance with the provisions of O.R.C.  3319.02 the elementary supervisor and administrative assistant, the secondary supervisor and administrative assistant, the school principals, and the assistant principals in the Ironton City Schools shall be evaluated (in writing) by February 1, 1981. By this date each succeeding year, the same shall be done.

 

Procedures

 

                The Ironton City Schools’ Evaluation Form No.2 will be used for the purpose of evaluating the administrators listed above.  The forms will be provided by the Ironton City Schools’ Superintendent to each evaluator by January 1 of each year and the evaluation completed by February 1, beginning in 1981. 

 

                The Superintendent will evaluate the elementary supervisor and administrative assistant and the secondary supervisor and the secondary supervisor and administrative assistant; the elementary supervisor and administrative assistant will evaluate the principals of the four elementary schools; the secondary supervisor and administrative assistant will evaluate the principals of the junior and senior high schools; and the high school principal will evaluate the assistant high school principal.

 

                Each evaluation will be conducted in a private, closed conference (arranged by mutual agreement) between the evaluator and the administrator being evaluated.  At this evaluation conference both parties will have the opportunity to share thoughts and ideas, discuss the evaluation in detail, average the point scores, summarize the results, and together, prepare a written report for the Ironton City Board of Education and Administration to consider and review.  The latter document will serve to fulfill the State requirements as provided by law and to clarify strengths, weaknesses, successes, etc. of the administrator being evaluated.

 

                The official evaluation report and the completed forms shall be treated as confidential information; not to be released to the press or public, except by the consent of the Superintendent and the Ironton City Board of Education.

 

                Each official evaluation report shall be presented to the Ironton City Board of Education, in executive session, at or near the February meeting of the Board.
