BOARD POLICY 4122.1

 

Teacher Substitute During Planning Period

 

                When the situation arises that a teacher must be absent from his classroom and it is practical to use a teacher who has a planning period to cover the classroom of the absent teacher, that teacher will be paid for such time at the rate of $17.00 per hour.

 

Guidelines

 

1.        When a teacher is going to be absent all day, a regular substitute should be called.

 

2.        The principal must approve the substitution arrangement before it takes place.

 

3.        To be used primarily when a teacher gets sick during the day and must leave school or when meeting is called by a school official concerning school related matters.

 

4.        To be used only in the Junior High School and Senior High School.

 

 

Note:  The payment rate is based on Article 13 of the Negotiated Agreement between the Board and OEA, 

           and may be subject to change as new agreements are reached.
