Meritorious Award
Desirous of recognizing meritorious accomplishments and/or outstanding public service by and among the employees and/or other citizens of this school district, the Ironton City Board of Education, after this date, will award a certificate of merit to any such employee or other citizen who, in the good judgment of the Board, has attained exemplary professional accomplishments in the field of education and/or who has rendered outstanding public service to the citizenry of Ironton. Such Awards shall only go to those employees and/or whose attainments are significant and “above and beyond the call to civic and professional duty” and shall be awarded services which epitomize the best principles and practices of education and/or public service. Under no circumstances shall the Award be made to any person for light or transient reasons, or merely a friendly gesture, or for professional and public service which would be considered part of such individual’s normal duty or obligation as a citizen or as an employee.
Nominations of the recipient of this Award may be made by any member of the Board of Education and citizens desiring to suggest nominees for the Award may do so by making the requests in writing, to the Ironton City Superintendent of School who will bring these to the attention of the Board listing accomplishments of the nominee and reasons for presentation of the employee or other citizen’s named in the nomination.
Meritorious Awards will be given only after due consideration and an affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the Ironton City Board of Education meeting, in regular or special session.
The Superintendent of the Ironton City Schools is hereby authorized to prepare a suitable Award from which shall, after Board approval, be the official form of Meritorious Award.
