Teacher Interviews During School Hours
It is the policy of this Board of Education to prohibit interviews of teachers and/or teaching principals during class periods or study periods by anyone other than authorized representatives of this Board of Education or of the State Department of Education, unless in the best interest of justice, the Ironton City School System and its students or employees, will best be served by such interviews. The principal of each school shall have the right to waive this policy only in cases of emergency or urgency considered necessary to expedite the proper operation of his school or for the welfare of the students and personnel therein. All salesmen calling on the schools shall first get approval for such visitation from the Ironton City Superintendent of Schools, unless this visitation or call by said salesman or representative is regularly scheduled or routine within the normal operations of this System.

Teacher Interviews During School Hours
(1) The office of the Superintendent of Schools in the Ironton System shall serve as a “clearinghouse” for
calls upon the Ironton Public Schools by salesmen.
(2) The salesmen shall first seek permission from the Superintendent of Schools to visit the city’s schools.
If permission is granted by the Superintendent, the salesman may call upon the principal or personnel of that school at a time approved by that principal.
(3) This policy is in no manner directed at parents who have children in our schools, and who call at or
visit a particular school to discuss matters pertaining to their children. Parents, visiting schools on matters pertinent to the child, are always most welcome and must be treated courteously, but granted an interview only with the consent of the principal.
(4) This policy is directed primarily at those who attempt to solicit school business during school hours.
Such people must not be given the unlimited privilege of “stopping by” at any school in the District and thus interrupting a school, class, or any part thereof. Teachers and/or principals are never permitted to stop a class for such cause or leave a classroom to talk to a salesman.
