BOARD POLICY 4138
Outside Employment and Conflict of Interest
The Ironton City Board of Education looks with disfavor upon the outside employment of any of the regular or full-time certified or non-certified personnel in this School District when such outside employment is so time and energy consuming in nature that it interferes with the efficiency of said employee in his duties with the Ironton City School System. The Board shall be given, upon its request or upon a request by the Superintendent to any employee in this system, a full and complete account of any outside employment. The Ironton City Board of Education shall have the right to require such employee to limit, curtail, or terminate any such outside work, if in the good judgment of the Board, such employment lowers the quality and efficiency of the work done by such employee of this System, or if such employment is not commensurate with the best interests of this School System.
The Ironton City Board of Education so prohibits any of the certified or non-certified full-time personnel in this District to exert undue influence, because of or by virtue of his position in this System, upon any person in this School District, in order to sell any merchandise or service which is for the personal profit or gain of said employee of this District.
The Board desires to make it quite clear that teachers and others in this System who do not work for this Board during the summer months are at liberty at that time to engage in any honorable employment, at the discretion of said employee. The foregoing Policies are designed to avoid and prevent a “conflict of interest” between all persons and parties herein listed.
