Summer Working Hours and Operations
All employees of the Ironton City Board of Education, both certified and non-certified, who continue working during the summer months (when the schools are not in session) are to work precisely the same work schedule in the summer months as during the winter, or school-calendar months. This means that those people will work the same number of hours each day and each week (in summer and in winter) and will observe the same schedule for starting and ending the work-day as in the school-calendar months, with certain permissible exceptions.
One permissible exception to this Policy would be that those employees, particularly the maintenance crew, who work out-of-doors, or in an enclosure without air conditioning, could, because of extreme heat and/or inclement weather, follow a different starting and ending time, as adjusted and set by the Maintenance Supervisor, without lost time.
The City Superintendent of Schools shall also have the full authority to make such other exceptions to this Policy as he may deem prudent and feasible in view of the work-load of the individual and/or groups and the work which needs to be done.
