School Psychology Aide
The Ironton City
Schools will have as one of its employees, a School Psychology Aide who will be
employed by the Ironton City Board of Education upon the recommendation of the
Ironton City Superintendent of Schools, at a salary schedule as adopted by this
Board for the position. The School
Psychology Aide will be employed under the Title VI-B Flo-Thru Program and will
be paid from funds from this Program’s budget.
Continued employment of the School Psychology Aide will be contingent
upon the continued funding of the Title VI Flo-Thru Program in the Ironton City
Schools.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum
requirements for the position shall be as follows:
(1)
The applicant has
submitted evidence of sufficient formal education to assure the
Superintendent of Schools of competency to perform
the duties assigned, and as listed
herein.
(2)
The applicant has
shown sufficient promise of being able to profit from inservice training
and shall be willing to participate in such
training.
(3)
The applicant shall
have adequate language competency, shall be free of speech, moral, and
disqualifying defects, and shall show evidence of
good physical health.
Certification and Evaluation
The School Psychology Aide shall be fully certified
for the position as per the requirements of the Ohio Department of
Education. The Ironton City School
District shall determine the objective evaluation criteria for the performance
of the School Psychology Aide, and shall evaluate the Aide annually, for the
Educational Aide Permit for which this Aide shall have.
Working Operations
The School
Psychology Aide shall work the 183-day school calendar year plus seven weeks of
extended service (35 days) for a total of 218 working days annually. Work hours shall begin when the first school
in this District opens for instruction and shall end when the last school
closes for instruction, daily, Monday through Friday (or the same working days
and hours as the School Psychologist).
Sick Leave and Other
The School
Psychology Aide shall be entitled to sick leave and other leave as granted by
State laws on same and in accordance with Board Policies 4151. 1-2 and 4151.7 and the negotiated contract.

Duties. Responsibilities, Obligations
School Psychology Aide
The School
Psychology Aide shall provide a variety of evaluation, interviewing, and
clerical services as follows:
1.
Administration and scoring of structured and
objective measures of adaptable behavior and/or social
competency;
2.
Administration and scoring of standardized
measures of academic achievement;
3.
Administration and scoring of informal and
criterion-referenced academic assessment;
4.
Behavioral observations of students using
structured behavior measures or frequency counts of
directly observable
behaviors;
5.
Collecting of background data through
structured interviews of school personnel or structured
reviews
of school records;
6.
Assisting a qualified school psychologist in
staffing and conferences;
7.
Recording data provided by the supervising
school psychologist on appropriate forms;
8.
Maintaining files, under the direction of the
supervising qualified school psychologist;
9.
Specific follow-up tasks assigned by the
supervising qualified school psychologist;
10.
Maintaining a file on each child
participating in any Special Education Program, containing an IEP,
required
medical reports, and all other such forms and/or materials as required for due
process
records;
11.
Assisting the school psychologist in
communication and training programs with teachers and parents;
12.
Assisting with the use and/or preparation of
audiovisual materials for in-service with school
personnel
and/or parents;
13.
Assisting and/or aiding the school
psychologist in any other manner (with
the work at hand) if
professionally
acceptable in method and practice.
The services of the School Psychology Aide shall not include:
1.
Administering tests of
cognitive functioning;
2. Independent
consultation with parents or teachers; however, aides with specific
certification and in-depth training may
participate in this area only with the
supervision of a qualified school
psychologist;
3.
Individual or group
counseling of children;
4. The
independent assumption of any duties beyond those assigned and monitored
by the
supervising school psychologist;
5.
Assigned duties for which he/she has not
received adequate, pre-service and continuous
inservice as determined by the supervising school
psychologist.
