Educational (Teacher) Aide
Employment
The educational aide will be regularly employed by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Ironton City Superintendent of Schools. The intent of the Board in employing a teacher’s aide is not to replace the teacher or other certified personnel; but rather to assist the teacher in the implementation of his/her program. The aide will supplement, not supplant.
The educational aide shall be at least 18 years of age, or be a high school graduate over 16 years of age.
Educational aides employed by this Board of Education shall have all rights, benefits, and legal protection available to other nonteaching employees in this district. Educational aide shall be compensated according to a salary plan and schedule as adopted by this Board.
The educational aides shall at all times while in the performance of their duties be under the supervision and direction of a teacher as defined in Section 3309.09 of the Ohio Revised Code.
The aide’s daily hours will be the same as the teachers’ hours in the building in which the aide is working.
The educational aide shall work 190 days each school year, including authorized paid legal holidays.
High school graduate (or the equivalent) – College training preferred – but not mandatory – Excellent health, physically and mentally – Unquestionable character – Emotional maturity – Acceptable speech – Good attitude toward school, student, and education – Will accept inservice training.
The educational aide shall be certified as required by the Ohio Department of Education, Department of Certification.
