Job Description

 

Guidance Counselor

 

A.      Responsible to:  Principal

 

B.       General Duties:

 

To provide systematic aid and assistance to foster the educational, career, civic, personal, and social growth of students and help students to cope and function more effectively in an ever-changing, technological world.  To perform duties within the conceptual framework of the nine dimensions of guidance as outlined in the Guidance Services for Ohio Schools.

 

C.       Qualifications:

1.        Ohio Certification in School Counseling;

2.        Training from an accredited institution in school counseling;

3.        Aptitude for organization, records, supervision, etc.;

4.        Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, students, and parents.

 

D.      Supervises:

 

Records Clerk and student workers.

 

E.       Duties:

 

Provide guidance and counseling services to students and parents within the framework of the nine dimensions of guidance as stipulated in the Ironton City School Guidance Plan.

 

The nine dimensions of guidance are:

 

1.        Information Services;

2.        Pupil Appraisal and Record Services;

3.        Group Guidance Service;

4.        Counseling Service;

5.        Consultative Service;

6.        Parent Conference Service;

7.        Resource Coordination Service;

8.        Placement Service;

9.        Evaluation and Planning Service.
