Criminal Background Checks of Applicants

 

                The Ironton City Board of Education wishes to protect the children and employees of the district by implementing a pre-employment screening procedure.  This procedure will determine if a prospective employee has a criminal background which may indicate their unfitness for working with children and school personnel.

 

                The Board of Education will request, with respect to any applicant for employment, that the Superintendent determine whether the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCII) has any pertinent criminal background information.

 

                Information and materials received from BCII will not be released or disseminated and will be destroyed if the applicant is not employed.  These records are not to be considered “public records” as addressed under Ohio Revised Code Section 149.43.
