Use of Electronic Mail/Voice Mail

 

A.    Electronic mail (E-Mail), Voice Mail and other information systems of the Ironton Board of Education

        shall only be used as required in the performance of an employee’s duties.  Both E-Mail and Voice

        Mail are the property of the Board.

 

B.       The use of E-Mail/Voice Mail shall not be used in a way that may be disruptive, offensive to others,    

harmful to morale, or for private or personal purposes.

 

C.       There is to be no display or transmission of sexually explicit images, messages, or cartoons or any

transmissions or use of E-Mail for communications that contact ethnic slurs, racial epithets, or anything that may be construed as harassment or disparagement of others based on their race, national

origin, sex, age, disability, religious, or political beliefs.

 

D.      Employees should use E-Mail/Voice Mail for School Business only.  The E-Mail/Voice Mail should

not be used to solicit or proselytize others for commercial ventures, religious or political causes, outside organizations, union correspondence and activities, or other non-job-related solicitations.

 

E.       All E-Mail messages are School District records.  The District reserves the right to access and disclose

all messages sent over its electronic mail system whenever there is a business need to do so.

 

F.       For privacy reasons, employees should not attempt to gain access to another employee’s personal file of E-Mail messages.  E-Mail information is considered confidential information and should only be shared with authorized individuals.

 

G.       Whenever an employee changes his/her E-Mail/Computer password, the employee shall immediately inform his/her supervisor of the change.

 

H.      Violation of any part of this policy shall subject the employee to appropriate disciplinary action.
