Exemption of Handicapped Students From Taking the Ninth or Twelfth Grade Proficiency Test

 

                No student with handicapped conditions shall be required to take or be prohibited from taking the ninth or twelfth-grade proficiency test.

 

                The determination that an individual handicapped student is exempted can be made using the following procedures:

               

1.        Parents will be involved in the decision to exempt an individual student with handicaps from

proficiency testing.

               

2.        Parental involvement can be accomplished in a number of ways:

A.      Parent conferences

B.       IEP meetings

C.       Written communications to parents requesting their agreement or disagreement with the decision to exempt.

3.        Documentation of the decision to exempt or not to exempt a student with a handicap will be

kept on file.
