Grading Periods, Numerical Grades, and Semester Examinations

 

                The Ironton City Board of Education hereby adopts the following Policy with regard to grading periods, numerical grades, and semester examinations:

 

(1)     Effective with the beginning of the 1986-87 school year, student grading periods will change

from the present periods of six-weeks to periods of nine-weeks.  Thus, grades will be issued four times each school year in the Ironton City Schools.

 

(2)     Students in grades 1-3 will have grades recorded in letters, as follows:

               

A             Excellent

B             Above Average

C             Average

D             Below Average

F              Failure

O             Outstanding

S              Satisfactory

U              Unsatisfactory

I               Improving

NI            Needs Improvement

 

(3)     Effective with the beginning of the 1986-87 school year, students in grades 4-12 will have

grades recorded in numbers, rather than letters, in the Ironton City Schools, as follows:

 

        A             93-100

        B             84-92

        C             74-83

        D             65-73

               

(4)     Effective with the beginning of the 1986-87 school year, semester examinations will be

eliminated in the Ironton City School System.  It is suggested, however, that teachers give tests at the end of the nine-weeks period.
