In order to facilitate the choosing of a scholarship recipient of the Clara Ruth Maddox Nursing Scholarship, the Ironton City Board of Education, in cooperation with the administration of the Ironton City Schools, sets forth the following rules and regulations for accomplishing this purpose:
1. The Guidance Department of Ironton High School will receive and process all applications for this scholarship.
2. Students filing applications for this scholarship shall include with their official application forms, copies of their ACT scores; parents’ financial disclosure forms (FAF); and official transcript of their high school credits.
3. The Trustees for the Clara Ruth Maddox Nursing Scholarship shall be the Ironton City Board of Education, whose members will make the final selection from among the applicants, and award the scholarship.
4. The funds awarded the student scholarship recipient will be made available for presentation at Commencement Time and presented as agreed upon by the Trustees and the Administration. (as to time, place, by whom, etc.)
5. The Treasurer of the Ironton City School District will be custodian of the Clara Ruth Maddox Nursing Scholarship Fund, and will issue checks directly to the Office of Student Financial Aid at the chosen institution.
1. Applications must be received in the Ironton High School Guidance Office by March 1 of each year.
2. Applicants must have completed and mailed the FAF Form by March 1.
3. The High School Selection Committee (Principal, Superintendent, and Deans) must have narrowed the field of applicants to three (3) by May 1.
4. By the end of the first week in May, the High School Committee Selection Committee must submit the three (3) names to the Ironton City Board of Education, the Trustees.
5. On the Board of Education’s first regular meeting in May, the recipient of the scholarship must be chosen by the Board, the Trustees, who will make the final choice for the scholarship, and authorize the Treasurer to issue the check.
