The Pledge of Allegiance of the American Flag.
The Ironton City Board of Education recognizes citizenship education and training to be an integral part of the educational process. The Board, therefore, adopts the following Policy regarding recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance:
The Pledge of Allegiance shall be a part of each Ironton School’s program, and all students, K-12 grades, enrolled in the Ironton City Schools shall be taught (as needed) the Pledge to Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. Students will recite, in unison, the Pledge orally in homeroom in opening exercises at the beginning of each school day in grades K-5.
Staff and teachers in grades 6-12 will recite the Pledge of the Allegiance as part of any special assemblies, extra-curricular actitivies, and any other school-sponsored activity if so approved by the building principal.
The recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance for both staff and employees will be done on a volunteer basis only.
