Phonics Instruction

 

A.      The Ironton City Board of Education realizes the importance of the use of phonics as an instructional procedure, in the teaching of reading to the children of the district. Along with this recognition will go the support of the Board in following the prescribed minimum standards of the State Board of Education regarding use of phonics as a technique for reading instructions in grades

       K-3.

 

B.   The Board will also lend its support to phonics instruction by encouraging teachers in grades K-3 to

       attend inservice training programs provided by the State Board of Education and approved by the

       Superintendent under existing policies.
