BOARD POLICY 6012
Pupil Health and Safety
Since the first consideration of the Ironton City Schools is the health and safety of students and staff, the Ironton City Board of Education hereby and herein makes it a Policy that all who oversee, administer, teach, or otherwise are in the employ of this school district make the health and safety of students and staff their top priority in our schools.
In additional to other school personnel, this district shall employ a school health nurse whose overall duty is to oversee and coordinate the health and safety program. The latter shall be an organized program of school health services designed to identify pupil health problems and to coordinate school community health resources for pupils and will include a comparable program of safety. The health program shall be in compliance with immunization requirements of Section 3313.671 of the Revised Code.
By the fifteenth day of October, the Board shall make a summary by school of the immunizations records of all initial entry pupils in the district and send to the Director, Ohio Department of Health.
The Ironton program of health services shall be in compliance with emergency medical authorization requirements of Section 3313.712. Our program shall include procedures for hearing and vision screening and a program of counseling, referral, and follow-up. Provisions shall be made for emergency drills in accordance with Section 3737.73, Revised Code. Records of such drills shall be made and retained. Emergency procedures are to be devised, posted, and made available to all, along with emergency telephone numbers.
Supervision shall be a requirement when students are at play on school grounds and other areas and facilities when scheduled for student use.
First aid facilities are required in all school facilities.
