School Calendar

 

                The Superintendent shall be responsible for presenting the school calendar for the approval of the Board.  The calendar shall make provisions for the opening and closing dates and the length of the authorized vacation periods during the year.

 

Length of the School Year

 

                The length of the school year in the Ironton City School District shall be 183 day.

 

                                                                180 days with students in attendance

                                                               

                                                                     3 days for teachers in-service training

 

 

Emergency Closing

 

                The Superintendent shall have the authority to close the district schools or dismiss them early in the event of hazardous weather or other emergencies which threaten the health or safety of students or personnel.  The Superintendent shall consult with various authorities and endeavor to announce the decision as early as possible. Students, parents, and staff shall be informed by radio in case of emergency closings.
