Display of National and State Flags

 

                In compliance with Section 3313.80 of the State law, and in line with the principles in which we so deeply believe, the Ironton City Board of Education hereby requires those in charge of each of the schools within the District to display the United States flag, over, near, or within their buildings each day such schools are in session.  This Board of Education also encourages the proper display of the flag of the State of Ohio within the schools of the Ironton City District.  It is further the policy of this Board to encourage all school authorities in this District to include within their curricular framework – the history, proper display, and significance of the United States flag and the official flag of the State of Ohio.

Display of National and State Flag

 

 

1.   The school officials in charge of each school in this District shall familiarize themselves with the 

      correct manner in which to display the U.S. and Ohio flags, and adhere to these regulations.

 

2.   The U.S. flag displayed outside each building in the Ironton System shall be at least five feet in length.

 

3.   The U.S. Flag and the flag of the State of Ohio displayed in this District shall be kept clean, shall be

      properly handled, and kept in good order.

 

4.   Students should be given the opportunity to raise and lower the American flag at our schools, and they

      should be taught the proper manner of display and treatment of the flag.

 

5.   Schools in this District should make every effort to have the U.S. flag properly displayed in every

      classroom in every building in this System.

 

6.   We encourage a wider use of the official flag of the State of Ohio in our schools.  Projects by

      individuals and groups to obtain flags of this State for use in our schools will be looked upon as

      worth-while and desirable projects.
