The Ironton City Board of Education may, by resolution, provide compensation out of current operating funds derived from local tax, and that such compensation shall not exceed eighty
dollars ($80.00). For all new terms commencing after the date of this resolution, the Ironton Board of Education shall be compensated at the maximum rate permitted by statute and would remain equal to that rate until such time as the maximum rate is changed. (ORC 3313.12)
There is no limitation on the number of meetings for which a board member may be compensated.
Board members may participate, at their own expense, in group benefits provided to employees and may elect to become members of the School Employees Retirement System.
Article II, Section 20 of the Ohio Constitution prohibits any increase or decrease in compensation of a public officer during his existing term in office.
