Wow! What a day! On April 14th, 2026, Ironton High School and Middle School, alongside 11 other High Schools and Middle Schools, joined Rio Grande College for the Rio Grande Esports Invitational. 47 students, their coaches and parents packed the arena. The energy was incredible and lifelong memories were made!
Our players competed in Super Smash Bros, Marvel Rivals, and Overwatch - taking home the 2nd Place trophy in Overwatch, lead by Braylon Bailey and Myson Schneider with support from Ethan Rice and Layton Neal. Multiple Ironton players finished in the top 15 in Smash Bros including Michael Williams, Corey Stevens, Strider McFann, and Ranger McFann. Ironton Middle School was the only team brave enough to take on high schoolers in the tournament which led to multiple upsets!
High School Coach Chris Martin and Middle School Coach Jamie Mosely were both proud of ever single one of their players - not only with their skills in game, but their continued dedication to good sportsmanship, good behavior, and comradery.
Thank you to all of the amazing coaches, organizers, sponsors, parents, players, and Rio Grande Esports for making events like these happen! We can't wait to see everyone again next year!
